WHAT'S THIS ALL ABOUT?

Imagine two women taking on the world's most adventure-filled charity car rally - The Mongol Rally.

Team Emu Draft is the only all-female all-Australian team from a world-wide contingent of 300 that are participating in this international escapade. The team is two thirty-something professional women from Sydney, Karen Graham and Sardi McBeath. Neither can list 'mechanic' in their past work history.

The challenge - to drive a third of way around the earth in a tiny car with an engine with no bigger than one litre of power, and raising lots of money for charity.

The plan - to arrive in Ulaan Baatar about five weeks after we leave Hyde Park on Saturday 19 July - that is, if we don’t find ourselves married to a pair of Kazakhstani camel farmers and living in a yurt somewhere along the way…

So ‘why would you want to fly to the other side of the world to drive through a plethora of countries that no one has ever heard of?!’ we hear you cry out! Because as Jane Austen once said...

"If adventures do not befall a young lady in her own village, she must seek them abroad".
